Australia was the largest source in the world for natural
non-dyed green Chrysoprase. But years of mining have depleted
most of the known pockets of material. A major vein was
discovered in Dodoma Tanzania about 6 years ago and today is
producing most of the worlds best material. A limited amount
comes to market due to the fact that only small scale miners
work the vein using crude local tools. This is the reason that
the material continues to be scarce and expensive. Dyed
material is becoming more prevalent in the market today. This
is of course totally natural and free of any dying. This also is
carved from the Imperial variety which is the most expensive of
the grades. Stunning color and translucent and among the
finest. Rich bright green translucent and free of any major
flaws.
